Andasol Avenue Elementary is located in the North Los Angeles City area, close to the campus of California State University, Northridge. We are a PreK-5 school, with a California State Pre-School. Our Special Education Programs consists of three Autism classrooms PreK-5 on the Core Curriculum, one Resource Class, and one Pre-School for All Learners Class (PAL). We are designated as a School for Advanced Studies, and have classes for gifted and high-ability students. Our student enrollment is about 450 students total.
We are proud of our diverse school population! The population of students who are socio-economically disadvantaged are approximately 66%. About 14% of our students are English Learners. The ethnic breakdown of Andasol is as follows: 5% African American, 15% Asian, 4% Filipino, 48% Latino, and 25% White. Our English as Second Language Learners population is about 16%. Our families speak many languages, such as Spanish, Armenian, Korean, Russian, Kurdish, Hindi, Urdu, Japanese, German, Chinese, Vietnamese, Thai, and Arabic!
